Speakers Program
In-class speakers programs available to Grades 7-12
Did you know the LHBA offers an in-class Careers in Construction speakers program available to Grades 7-12 and a scholarship program available to graduating students from TVDSB and LDCSB who have designated their career path towards a field associated with the housing industry?
We believe that students, while they are searching for a career path, deserve to learn about the extensive employment opportunities available in the housing industry. The industry is so wide reaching and accommodates the needs of graduates at all education levels; high school, apprenticeship, college, and university. It encompasses both professional and trade based careers with plenty of growth opportunities.
Many of LHBA’s members, from all areas of the trades and supporting the trades, are available to visit classrooms to explore the opportunities available, share their experiences, answer questions and let students know the benefits of a career in the trades! They are particularly interested in presenting to Math, Careers, Manufacturing, Design, or to any class with a teacher wishing to include us in their lesson planning! We love what we do and want to help the next generation of employees find something that they will love too.

Interested in having a speaker at your school?
The presentation is about 45 minutes and is presented by an LHBA Member volunteer and someone working in the industry. The program was created in partnership with representatives from OYAP and Fanshawe College.
